UK web searches on how one can acquire Cypriot citizenship have seen a big increase since the events of April 2016, according to an article in FT.
Cyprus offers citizenship by investment programs to individuals investing 5mn euros, or 2,5mn as part of a collective investment scheme jointly with other investors. The time processing for an application can be as little as three months.
The increase in searches is another result of the BREXIT referendum and Brits now show serious interest and request information on how to obtain Cyprus citizenship.
Other EU countries, such as Spain and Greece, also offer long residence rights to wealthy investors.
The Irish Foreign Minister appealed to people in the UK to stop rushing Irish passports, following a surge of applications that threatened to stretch the resources of the consulate at a breaking point.
