Saint Vincent and the Grenadines (also known as St. Vincent), an island country with a population of about 105,000 and a land area of 389.3 sq. km. is located in the Lesser Antilles Island arc, in the southern position of the Windward Islands, which lie at the southern end of the eastern border of the Caribbean Sear where the latter meets the Atlantic Ocean. The capital and largest city of the country is Kingstown, which is also its main port. The country has a French and British colonial history and is now part of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (CARICOM), the Commonwealth of Nations, the Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas and the Community of Latin and Caribbean States (CELAC). The country's official language is English.
